The greatest gift that people have in raising children lies in the way children think. Children naturally see the world as being governed by a set of rules that they see as absolute. If a child has been living in an unruly environment, the absolutism of rules may have to be demonstrated. This can be demonstrated through explaining the consistency of gravity. You may also wish to demonstrate rules by having the child attempt to change a crayon from blue to green, by simply willing it to.  As the child experiences the unchangeability of color or gravity, explain the concept of constant rules. The child will understand the concept of absolute rules because it is natural for him to think in those terms. Once the concept of an absolute rule is established, the child can begin to learn that absolute rules also apply to him. Applying the following principles will assist the child in learning that lesson.
